Podcasts get the message out about various city programs
Today, the latest edition of Podcasts for Boston, Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s podcast initiative, about the city’s environment and alternative transportation initiatives is available up on the city’s website
www.cityofboston.gov/podcast
.
This edition focuses on Mayor Menino’s efforts to reduce fuel emissions for the residents of Boston and the AltWheels festival that was held on City Hall Plaza last month.
Podcast for Boston is one more way the city attempts to reach out to the younger population, letting them know about opportunities within Boston and information about the city’s various programs. The podcasts are approximately four minutes in length.
“This initiative is helping us reach out to more young people and get them involved with the future of Boston. The city has many opportunities available and we want people to know about them,” Mayor Menino said.
This semester, Emerson College senior Amy Cherry is helping to create and produce the episodes. Cherry, who is scheduled to receive her degree in Broadcast Journalism next spring, has previously worked at WERS as a news producer and the Emerson Channel as a Production Coordinator and Senior Producer of the Ladies Room. She most recently interned with WBZ Radio 1030.
Podcasts for Boston was launched this past June. Podcasts for Boston can be found on the city’s website
www.cityofboston.gov/podcast
and there are plans for the podcasts to soon be available through iTunes.
