The Gay Pride Parade and related special events will be taking place in the City of Boston this weekend.  The Boston Transportation Department is advising drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians alike to take extra care to obey the rules of the road and to be considerate of others traveling on local streets.  Those coming into the City to attend these events are encouraged to leave their private vehicles at home and take the MBTA.

 

The Boston Dyke March will begin at the Parkman Bandstand on the Boston Common at 7 PM on Friday, June 7.  An estimated 1000 participants will march from the Boston Common, turn right on Charles Street, left on Beacon Street, left on Arlington Street, right on Commonwealth Avenue. left on Clarendon Street, left onBoylston Street, return to the Boston Common at the corner of Boylston Street and Charles Street.

 

On Saturday, June 8 at Noon, an estimated 35,000 participants will kick off the Gay Pride Parade which will travel from Boylston Street at Clarendon Street, to Clarendon Street, to Tremont Street, between Massachusetts Avenue and Dartmouth Street, turning left onto Berkeley Street, right onto Boylston Street, left onto Charles Street, right onto Beacon Street, left onto Tremont Street, straight onto Cambridge Street and right onto City Hall Plaza.

 

To accommodate the parade, temporary "Tow Zone, No Stopping, Parade Saturday" parking regulations will be in effect at the following locations.

 

Boylston Street

            Both sides, from Dalton Street to Tremont Street

Exeter Street

            Both sides, from Newbury Street to St. James Avenue

Dartmouth Street

            Both sides, from Newbury Street to St. James Avenue

Gloucester Street

            Both sides, from Newbury Street to Boylston Street

Fairfield Street

            Both sides, from Boylston Street to Newbury Street

Clarendon Street

            Both sides, from Newbury Street to Tremont Street

Tremont Street

            Both sides, from Union Park Street to East Berkeley Street

Berkeley Street

            Both sides, from Tremont Street to Newbury Street

Charles Street South

            Both sides, from Park Plaza to Boylston Street

Charles Street

            Both sides, from Boylston Street to Beacon Street

Beacon Street

            Both sides, from Charles Street to Tremont Street

Tremont Street

            Both sides, from Cambridge Street to Beacon Street

Court Street

            Both sides, from Washington Street to Cambridge Street

Cambridge Street

            Both sides, from Court Street to Staniford Street

Staniford Street

            East side (Hurley Building side), from Cambridge Street to opposite Cardinal O’Connell Way

 

The Annual Chandler Street Block Party will take place on Saturday, June 8.  Temporary "Tow Zone, No Stopping" parking regulations will be in effect on Chandler Street, both sides, from Berkeley Street heading easterly to the end of the street, from 7:30 AM to 9 PM on Saturday to accommodate the event.

 

The Boston Pride Day Street Fair will take place on Sunday, June 9, on St. James Avenue.  Temporary "No Tow, No Stopping, Sunday" parking regulations will be in effect on St. James Avenue, both sides, between Berkeley Street andArlington Street.

 

The Women's Pride Day Celebration will take place on Sunday, June 9, on Perkins Street in Jamaica Plain.  Temporary "Tow Zone, No Stopping, Sunday" parking regulations will be in effect on Perkins Street, both sides, between South Huntington Avenue and Centre Street.
