Two special events taking place in Boston this weekend will detour vehicular traffic and will result in additional pedestrian traffic on local streets. The Boston Transportation Department is urging all users of the road to proceed with caution when travelling around the City. As always, using the MBTA is strongly encouraged.
The Boston Strong One Run will take place on Saturday, May 25th. Up to 4,500 runners will gather onBeacon Street, between Park Drive and Brookline Avenue. At 10 AM, runners will make their way from Beacon Street to Commonwealth Avenue inbound, under Massachusetts Avenue, right onto Hereford Street, left onto Boylston Street, ending at the Boston Marathon Finish Line. Detours will be in place as the runners make their way along the route. In addition, temporary Tow Zone, No Stopping regulations will be in effect from 9 AM to Noon on Saturday at the following locations:
- Boylston Street, both sides, from Hereford Street to Clarendon Street
- Beacon Street, odd side, from #693 Beacon Street to Brookline Avenue.
The Run to Remember Road Race will take place on Sunday, May 26th. An estimated 6,000 runners will gather on Seaport Boulevard at the World Trade Center to participate in either a half-marathon or a five mile race. Road closures will begin at approximately 7 AM along the following route. Seaport Boulevard, right on Atlantic Avenue, left on State Street, right on Congress Street, left on New Chardon Street, right on Cambridge Street, around Charles Circle (half-marathon continues straight on Longfellow Bridge, left on Memorial Drive and returns to Charles Circle) right on Charles Street, right on Beacon Street, left on Arlington Street, right on Commonwealth Avenue outbound, to a U Turn at Berkeley Street, to Commonwealth Avenue inbound, right on Arlington Street, left on Boylston Street south roadway, left on Washington Street, right on Milk Street, right on Congress Street, left on Atlantic Avenue, right on Seaport Boulevard, ending at the World Trade Center. Detours will be in place as the runners make their way along the route. In addition, temporary Tow Zone, No Stopping regulations will be in effect from 7 AM to Noon on Sunday at the following locations:
- Cambridge Street, both sides, from New Chardon Street to Charles Circle
- Seaport Boulevard, both sides, from B Street to Atlantic Avenue
- State Street, north side, from Atlantic Avenue to Congress Street
- Water Street, south side, from Washington Street to Congress Street.
