Traffic Advisory - Grand Prix

On Saturday, October 17, the First Annual Boston Grand Prix will be hosted by the Boston Police Athletic League to support its many programs that benefit the city's young people. Cambridge Street, between Court Street and New Sudbury Street, will be closed to traffic from 4 AM to 7 PM to accommodate the go-kart racing as well as a viewing stand. As a result, traffic will be detoured around Government Center and temporary Tow Zone, No Stopping parking restrictions will be instituted on Cambridge Street, between Court and New Sudbury Streets. Those coming in for the event are encouraged to take the MBTA to the Government Center Station, which exits directly onto City Hall Plaza located on Cambridge Street.

Rutherford Avenue, between Sullivan Square and Austin Street, is also scheduled to be closed to traffic on Saturday from 6 AM to 8 PM, weather permitting.

The Massachusetts Peace Action March will begin at 3 PM on Saturday in Copley Square. Up to 2,000 participants will march from Copley Square, right to Boylston Street, left to Washington Street, left to West Street, left to Tremont Street, right to Boylston Street, left to Charles Street South, right to Park Plaza, continuing on to St. James Avenue, ending at Dartmouth Street. Traffic will be delayed intermittently while the March progresses. Due to the event, temporary Tow Zone, No Stopping restrictions will be instituted at the following locations.

The Winthrop School Street Fair will take place on Saturday requiring the closure to traffic of Marlborough Street, between Berkeley and Clarendon Streets, from 7 AM to 4 PM. Temporary Tow Zone, No Stopping parking restrictions will be instituted on Marlborough Street, between Berkeley and Clarendon Streets, to accommodate the event.

In addition, the Catholic Memorial Invitational Cross Country Meet will take place on Saturday from 8 AM to 2 PM in Franklin Park. Traffic is expected to be heavy on roads leading to Franklin Park, in particular, Morton Street/Rt. 203 in Jamaica Plain and Columbia Road in Dorchester, as well as on Jewish War Veterans Memorial Parkway and Franklin Park Road. Parking inside of Franklin Park is limited and parking restrictions will be enforced.

On Sunday, October 18, the North Washington Street Bridge will be closed to traffic from 6 AM to 9 AM, and then again from 10:30 AM to Noon. During the same time frame, Commercial Street, between Hanover and North Washington Streets, and North Washington Street, between Medford and Causeway Streets, will also be closed to traffic.

The Boston Firefighters Local 718, 27th Annual Memorial 10K Road Race will be held this Sunday along Dorchester Bay. An estimated 1,000 runners will set out from Florian Hall, 55 Hallet Street, Dorchester at 10 AM, turning left to Gallivan Boulevard to Neponset Circle, to Morrissey Boulevard, turning right to University Road, around the University of Massachusetts/Boston campus before continuing back the same route to Hallet Street.
