Mr. Rogers Arrested for Gun and Ammunition Charges

This afternoon, an off duty Boston Police Officer arrested 19 year-old Roy Rogers, of Dorchester after a shots were fired in the area of the Lee School in Dorchester. The officer heard the sounds of multiple shots being fired from the cemetery near the school. After hearing the sounds of gunshots he responded to the rear of 61 through 67 Callender St. At that point the officer observed Rogers inside the cemetery by the Lee school. The officer entered the cemetery and followed Rogers through the cemetery to the opposite side and followed the suspect for blocks when the he entered a small black vehicle on Oakhurst St. and fled the area. The officer provided a detailed description of this suspect, vehicle and direction of flight to the officers responding to assist. On duty officers from District 3 observed the suspect operating a small black vehicle and began to follow him. The suspect was followed to area of 31 Jacob Street where he parked the vehicle and began to walk away. Rogers was stopped and the off duty officer responded to the Jacob Street location where he identified the suspect. Officers discovered a black handgun resting under the driver's seat of the vehicle along with the weapons magazine, resting next to the weapon. Rogers was arrested and transported to District 3 where he was booked for: unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. He will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Monday morning.
