Mayor Martin J. Walsh welcomes music fans of all ages to the grand finale of the 42nd annual Dorothy Curran Wednesday Night Concert Series on City Hall Plaza with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Charlie Thomas performing the songs of the Drifters on August 20 at 7 p.m.
The series is presented by Mayor Walsh, the Mayor’s Office of Tourism, Sports, and Entertainment, and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with title sponsor Bank of America. Additional support is provided by media sponsor the Boston Herald and night sponsor Michael Francis Cahill Fund/City of Boston.
Charlie Thomas is a Dorothy Curran Wednesday Night Concert Series favorite who earned his place in music history as a member of the Drifters, the group that placed 37 records on the Billboard national R&B charts. Twenty-five Drifters songs reached the Top 10, with five of those making it to #1.
Thomas carries on the group’s legacy by performing such Drifters classics as “Dance With Me,” “This Magic Moment,” “Some Kind of Wonderful,” “Under The Boardwalk,” and more.
