The Citizens Connect iPhone app is part of Mayor Menino's and the City of Boston's strategy for Citizen-to-City transactions called Citizens Connect. The Citizens Connect iPhone app is targeted at enlisting Boston residents and visitors to gather information about the physical state of the city. (We refer to this approach as Citizen Sourcing .)

What is the Citizens Connect iPhone App?

The Citizens Connect iPhone App that provides a lightweight interface into the City of Boston's Constituent Relationship Management System (CRM). The intention is to help constituents easily report a variety of different service requests including
  • Removing Graffiti
  • Filling Potholes
  • Fixing Traffic lights
The user-interface is, we believe, simple to understand and easy to use.
How do I get the Citizens Connect iPhone app?

The Citizens Connect iPhone application is available for free by browsing the App Store on your iPhone. You can also download it to your computer through the App Store in iTunes .

In order to use the App Store, you must first upgrade to the latest version of the iPhone operating system, and the latest version of iTunes.
How do I use the iPhone App?

Using the app is simply a matter of launching it from your iPhone. You will be guided through the process by the app.

We welcome any comments, questions, etc you may have regarding the Citizens Connect iPhone App.

Which devices will the Citizens Connect iPhone app work on?

The Citizens Connect iPhone application works on any iPhone with operating system version 3.x. The iPod Touch is not currently supported (primarily because it does not have a camera or gps). The application will not work on any other iPod device.

To determine your device's O.S., connect the device to your computer and refer to the appropriate "Summary" page in iTunes, or go to the "Settings" area on the device itself.
How can I check on the status of my request?

Once you have successfully submitted your request, you will receive a tracking number that you can use to monitor your request.

Does the City plan to release other mobile apps?

Depending on the feedback we receive on this application, this will likely be the first of a suite of mobile applications (not exclusively iPhone-based) that we develop and release to the public.
