ReadBoston believes that all children should have daily access to high-quality books in an effort to foster a love of reading. We occasionally receive donations of new and gently used books from generous members of the community. Our goal is to get these high-quality books into the hands of children who need them.

The ReadBoston Book Bank provides community centers, after-school programs and other childcare providers with new and gently used books in order to create new libraries or supplement existing libraries.

Applicants should have a distinct need for books and a sustained commitment to developing children’s literacy. Applicants will be approved based on the number of children served, need, emphasis on literacy in the program, and the availability of titles for targeted age-range.

In 2007, the ReadBoston Book Bank provided over 7,000 books to 27 sites in Boston.
