Boston Safe Shops Project

The Safe Shops project was created to promote environmental leadership among Boston’s auto body and repair shops. Safe Shops staff provide education and resources to help shops improve their safety and environmental practices. Safe Shops works with shops on improving the quality of life in the neighborhood and reducing water, air, and noise pollution.

Staff are happy to provide auto shop owners with great training and information aimed at enhancing the way they do business in their shops in order to protect their workers, save money, and protect their neighborhood environments. The Safe Shops free in-shop class can be as short as half an hour and is able to cover:

  • City regulations and passing inspections
  • Proper equipment and tools for worker health safety
  • Storing and recycling waste to prevent pollution and save money
  • Alternative non-toxic products
  • Best practices to stay safe and get the job done
  • City resources and services for business and workers
