A City of Boston Internship provides students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program a rigorous learning experience, gaining valuable skills from a City Department. Opportunities for Internships are offered to students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in a Boston area.
Interns will have the opportunity to not only gain valuable professional experience in municipal government but to provide useful contributions that will help the City to deliver a high level of service to neighborhoods and residents. Undergraduate interns must be currently enrolled in a credited college or university. Graduate interns must be currently enrolled, or accepted in, a graduate program.
Internships are managed by supervisors in individual departments; there is no central internship application for on-going positions. Departments require applicants to apply to an individual posting.
Internship positions have on-going availability throughout the academic calendar and summer. Not all departments may offer internships, if you are interested in interning in a specific department that does not have a posting please email a detailed description of your interest to internships@cityofboston.gov
