Summary
Intern will report to the Marketing Manager and Director of External Affairs. The Marketing Department has a clear understanding of what the student should gain from the internship experience and how it complements the formal academic process. The intern will be exposed to the core responsibilities necessary for a future position in the communications, marketing, and recreation/leisure science fields.
Job Description
This marketing internship will provide broad exposure to all facets of public relations in a busy city government department including media and community relations, inter-governmental affairs, marketing, special events, and client relations. Specific duties will include: •Assist with execution of special events including cultural events, park openings, concert series, tree lightings, fundraisers and more •Assist with media relations including press releases, advisories and media follow-up. Design, edit and disseminate marketing materials •Assist with research to identify media outlets, community partners •Assist with social media communications •Manage news clipping system
Qualifications
Majors related to: communications, marketing, public relations, and recreation/leisure science fields. Student has excellent written and oral communication skills. Student is organized and is a self-starter.
