A City of Boston Internship provides students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program a rigorous learning experience, gaining valuable skills from a City Department. Opportunities for Internships are offered to students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in a Boston area.
Interns will have the opportunity to not only gain valuable professional experience in municipal government but to provide useful contributions that will help the City to deliver a high level of service to neighborhoods and residents. | Newmarket Industrial District: Boston’s Green Corridor
The City of Boston is committed to the retention and support of industrial and manufacturing businesses with a specific focus on the Newmarket area. Multiple business-services workshops, roundtables, surveys, and outreach efforts have been executed over the past two years in the district. We are looking to better capture the results of our efforts and the overall energy usage changes in the area. Gathering this data will not only help inform our efficacy, but also will bolster our further engagement of the business community in the area to follow suit. |

The Boston Redevelopment Authority is the City’s Planning and Economic Development Agency and works in concert with neighborhood residents, business owners, community-based organizations, and developers to shape Boston today and tomorrow. Clear, concise online communication is essential for the Agency, and as we undertake restructuring the content of the BRA’s online presence, we are in need of a web developer/programmer to assist in expediting this effort. |
| Graphic Design Intern
Intern will report to the Marketing Director and Senior Graphic Artist. The Marketing Department has a clear understanding of what the student should gain from the internship experience and how it complements the formal academic process. The intern will be exposed to the core responsibilities necessary for a future position in the graphic design/advertising field. The Department will assist with the preparation of resume and design samples. This internship will provide broad exposure to all facets of design and graphic production in a busy city government department including co-production of advertisements, informational literature, posters, and brochures. |
| ParkARTS Intern
Intern will report to the Marketing Director and Director of Programming, who possess first-hand experience of the internship process. The Marketing Department has a clear understanding of what the student should gain from the internship experience and how it complements the formal academic process. The intern will be exposed to the core responsibilities necessary for a future position in the arts education and/or parks & recreation fields. The Department will assist with the preparation of resume and writing samples. This internship will provide broad exposure to all facets of teaching children and adult arts workshops for a busy city government department, including arts education and curriculum design, media and community relations, marketing, and corporate sponsorships. |
