The Mayor's Sustainable Food Leadership Awards were introduced in 2011 to highlight the City's commitment to sustainable and healthy food choices.
Nomination Considerations
The Mayor's 2013 Greenovate Boston Awards will celebrate leaders in the field of sustainable and healthy foods: those who provide our community with good food and those who provide a service in the sustainable and healthy food industry. Please consider the following in the Sustainable Food Leadership Award nomination:
Describe the nominee's leadership in the provision of sustainable foods and/or providing access to healthy, locally grown or sourced foods to Boston residents and visitors. Aspects of the nomination could include:
Leadership in promoting and providing sustainable food from production to pantry;
Leadership in ensuring that all Boston residents and/ or workers have equal access to good, healthy and nutritious food;
Leadership in promoting an environment which fosters social, economic and food justice
Leadership in advancing and/or supporting ecologically integrated farming or fishing practices, climate stewardship, water stewardship, farmland preservation, and social responsibility
Leadership in advancing and/or supporting the health, safety, and economic viability for farmers, fishermen, and those who make a living in the agricultural and seafood community
