    The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Green City Index ranks Boston fifth in the country and sixth in North America for environmental sustainability, earning top scores in the categories of energy and water use per person.

    The Hub has received the ranking from a national advocacy coalition Transportation for America.  Their Pedestrian Danger Index takes into account pedestrian fatalities, size of the region, and the local popularity of walking.

    Boston Ranked 2nd Best City for Green Jobs

    Rankings released by the Center for American Progress recognized Boston's clean-tech job creation, green construction and engineering jobs for wind power, and the Mayor's Energy Management Board.

    A study released by SustainLane.com cites the Mayor Menino's Executive Order on Climate Action, new zoning laws requiring LEED certification, a requirement that all taxis go hybrid and a mandate to assess all city buildings for alternative energy potential.

  • APCC Winners (75)

    Mayor Announces Climate Action and Air Quality Grant Winners

    Mayor Menino announced that the City of Boston and the Boston Air Pollution Control Commission are awarding 2009 Community Climate Action and Air Quality Grants to five neighborhood organizations. The grants are an effort to fund community climate action initiatives that encourage and support Boston residents, businesses, and institutions reducing greenhouse gas emissions and saving energy.
