Boston Environmental Strike Team
The Boston Environmental Strike Team (BEST) comprises inspectors from the City's Inspectional Services Department and the Special Prosecution Unit of the Corporation Counsel's Office and coordinates public health, safety, and environmental law in conjunction with the Public Health Commission and Environment Department.

Investigations include complaints about unsafe and improperly maintained properties, illegal dumping of hazardous materials, illegal solid-waste transfer stations, and other nuisances that impair Boston's quality of life. BEST can require owners to bring their property into compliance with applicable laws.
