Reaching Out to Seniors in Boston's Neighborhoods

In 1999, Mayor Thomas M. Menino directed the Elderly Commission to reach out to elder residents in the City, age 65 or older, living independently. Seniors Count was designed to provide information to seniors and their caregivers about City programs and services and inform them of other helpful services available through state and federal programs, as well as from neighborhood agencies.

An additional goal of Seniors Count is to find ways to assist seniors who are coping with issues that may pose a risk to their continued independence.

Trained volunteers, who have been C.O.R.I. checked, and wear an official uniform and ID badge, conduct the interviews with seniors.

Volunteers are needed!

To volunteer, to schedule a visit or for more information on Seniors Count, call (617)635-3977.
