Citizens Connect Live is an online chat platform which allows constituents to chat online with operators staffed by the Mayor's Office of Constituent Service. Currently available during normal business hours, Citizens Connect Live operators are available to answer questions about city services or direct users to online services or web resources.
Government Computer News (GCN) recognized Citizens Connect as a 2011 GCN Award winner for IT Achievement, lauding the app for its instant connections between citizens, elected officials and service crews.
The City of Boston's Technology Department received a 2011 Digital Government Achievement Award for its Legislation Information Management System (LIMS), which streamlines the process of creating, publishing, and accessing information about City Council meetings.
Boston EMS AED Alert has been recognized as a Laureate Award Winner in the Health Category. With the goal of improving and increasing bystander CPR and ultimately saving more lives, staff from Boston EMS’ Dispatch Operations as well as RTQI (Research, Training, and Quality Improvement) has implemented an addition to the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to show the location of hundreds of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) across the city. The improved system, known as AED Alert allows Boston EMS 911 call takers to identify the location of the nearest AED unit once an address is entered. Boston EMS’ RTQI has developed an extensive list of more than 900 AED locations and the database continues to grow.
Technology Goes Home provides Boston residents with the opportunity to become engaged in 21st century skill development by providing training, hardware, and assistance with Internet access. The goal of the program is to assist residents to be active users of Internet resources in an effort to improve the quality of their lives. An on-line portal and accompanying 15 hour training program takes participants to resources that will help them to Live, Learn, Earn, Work, and Play on-line as new members of the on-line community.
The GIS Data Hub was the winner in the Geospatial Information Systems category or Technology Solutions Awards from the Public Technologies Institute. The GIS Data Hub provides a resource for both City employees and residents to access maps, reports and charts using geographic data layers. The self-serve tool on the city's website, offers a more transparent tool for constituents.
The award recognizes the Citizen Connect iphone application, as the winner in the Web and E-Government category. The iphone application, part of a strategy to enable anytime, anywhere service to our constituents, provides a method to report issues in the city (such as potholes, street lighting) and send them directly to city departments for resolution.
The Department won a Significant Achievement Award in the Telecom/IT category for the Boston Fiber Optic Network. The Boston Fiber Network has connected over 120 Schools, Libraries, Police & Fire Stations with high speed internet and network connectivity.
The Computerworld Information Technology Awards Foundation has named the City of Boston's website as a 2007 Laureate. "Each year, the Computerworld Honors Program seeks to recognize organizations, from a variety of Sectors, for their ongoing efforts to utilize technology in order to benefit society,” said Ron Milton, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Cityofboston.gov was awarded 3rd Place in the 2003 Best of the Web City Portal category from the Digital Government Achievement Awards. The website was chosen based on its ability to provide solutions and communicate well with citizens, businesses and educational communities.

In 1997 the City of Boston received a PTI Technology Achievement Honorable Mention for TechCtr@Boston, a high-bandwidth office building located in Back-Bay.
