REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

Grassroots Open Space/Community Garden Acquisition

The City of Boston, Department of Neighborhood Development (DND) Grassroots Open Space Community Garden Program is pleased to invite proposals in response to this Request for Proposals (RFP) to acquire and preserve land for community use and management as open space or community gardens.  The City of Boston, DND currently owns these land parcels.  The disposition of these parcels is on a competitive proposal basis.

This RFP is designed to inform prospective applicants about DND’s proposal submission requirements for land disposition and the evaluation process required for each applicant’s proposal to acquire these properties for use as open space or community gardens for community use and benefit.
The City’s goal with the disposition of these properties is to increase the availability of quality community gardening and open space opportunities in Boston neighborhoods.
Parcels available for acquisition through this RFP are located on two sites at the following addresses:

NOTE:  two sites are being offered pursuant to this RFP.  Site 1 is the Cedar Street Site and Site 2 is the Greenbriar Street Site.  Proposers may submit proposals for each of the sites but must do so through a separate proposal for each site; these proposals will be evaluated separately by the City.  All applicants must be non-profit organizations that have current 501c 3 status with the federal Internal Revenue Service.

RFP application package is available beginning Monday, October 26, 2009, at the Department of Neighborhood Development, Bid Counter, 10th Floor, 26 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108.  Completed proposals must be submitted as stated in the application package and returned to DND, Bid Counter, 10th Floor, 26 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108, on December 2, 2009, by no later than 4:00 PM.  LATE PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
