Mayor Menino and staff from Pine Street Inn cut the ribbon on the Thomas M. & Angela Menino House a 10 unit development with supportive services for elderly homeless who have “aged out” of other permanent housing programs, been referred by treatment facilities or other shelters.  Rental assistance for the residents are project based provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Section 202.  Pine Street Inn will provide on-site supportive services to the tenants and health related services will be provided by other community-based providers.  Funding for this project was provided by the City, State, and Federal governments as well as the developer.

Horizons II is  11 units of transitional housing created by the Women’s Education and Industrial Union (now known as Crittenton Women’s Union) in collaboration with the Caleb Foundation in a building sold by the City of Boston Department of Neighborhood Development.  This project increased the City’s housing stock for battered and homeless women and their children by 30 percent.  Horizons II provides educational and training resources, single-parent support, advocacy, housing search, and children’s activity programs to its residents.  Housing if offered to the residents for up to 18 months in a safe, supportive environment.  Funding for this project was received from the City, State and Private Foundations.

Algonquin Street

The City of Boston in collaboration with the Pine Street Inn rehabilitated this building into affordable rental housing. The Algonquin Street project created 9 SRO (single room occupancy) units of which 7 are reserved for the chronically homeless with mental illness. Funding for this project included City of Boston McKinney funds, State, Federal and Private resources.
