Financing a Home
 

The Boston Home Center offers a number of programs to help homebuyers finance the purchase of their new home.

From campaigns like Don't Borrow Trouble (that warn homebuyers against predatory lending) to program like Soft Second which can help you save thousands of dollars over the life of your mortgage.

Education
Don't Borrow Trouble is a campaign to educate homeowners about the risks of refinance and home equity mortgages.  Homeowners facing difficulties paying their mortgage can access counseling services.

Attend the Credit Smart series of FREE classes to learn everything you need to know about credit!

Meet the Lender$ is a one-stop shopping opportunity to meet ten different mortgage lenders and learn about Special Mortgage Programs, Money To Close, Free Mortgage Pre-Qualification, Affordable Homeownership Listings Applications, Signup for a free Homebuyer and Credit Course, and Home Repair and Lead Paint Assistance.

Mortgages
The Boston Soft Second Mortgage Program offers low- and moderate-income buyers a discounted mortgage rate with no points, reduced closing costs and no mortgage insurance fees.

Grants
The Cash-to-Close provides low, moderate and middle-income home buyers downpayment and closing cost financial assistance. Down payment assistance of up to 3% are available on many of the mortgages listed. Homebuyers can access an additional $300 discount off closing costs through participating mortgage lenders.

Financial and technical assistance is available to first-time homebuyers of certain City-owned property through the Residential Development Program (RDP). To be placed on the RDP mailing list, please call 617-635-0381.
