Data and Reports
The City of Boston monitors homelessness and reports its findings in a number of different ways.

Bringing Boston Home - Mayor Menino's detailed plan to house Boston’s homeless

Leading the Way – Providing for the homeless has been an integral part of Boston’s comprehensive housing strategy since it was first developed in 2000.

Annual Homeless Census – Boston conducts an annual Homeless Census, a point-in-time census of homeless persons living on the City’s streets and in shelters.

Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) – The Department of Neighborhood Development compiles statistics from all of Boston’s homeless provider agencies, which helps the City develop programs and policies, and target its resources.

Annual Homeless Assessment Reports - These reports provide estimates of homelessness, including information about the demographic characteristics of homeless persons, service use patterns, and the capacity to house homeless persons.
