Data and Reports
The City of Boston monitors homelessness and reports its findings in a number of different ways.
Leading the Way – Providing for the homeless has been an integral part of Boston’s comprehensive housing strategy since it was first developed in 2000.
Annual Homeless Census – In December of 2009, Boston held its 30th Annual Homeless Census, a point-in-time census of homeless persons living on the City’s streets and in shelters.
Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) – The Department of Neighborhood Development compiles statistics from all of Boston’s homeless provider agencies, which helps the City develop programs and policies, and target its resources.Â
