The Boston Home Center provides consumer outreach, information, and counseling to help Boston homeowners avoid predatory lending and foreclosure. Services include counseling, intervention, and workout strategies.
In 2006, Mayor Menino recognized the seeds of the subprime mortgage crisis and asked the Department of Neighborhood Development, with support from Freddie Mac, to develop two Public Service Announcements designed to raise awareness of mortgage loan scams among Boston residents. Watch them here:

- Learn about ways to get out of debt.
