A Nubian Notion is the brainchild of its Founder and President Sayid Malik A. Abdal-Khallaq.  Known as a leader and pillar of the Roxbury community, Malik is usually sought out by dignitaries and officials visiting the Roxbury area.  Personalities such as Dr. Martin Luther King, El-Hajj Malik  El-Shabazz (Malcolm X), President John F. Kennedy, Minister Louis Farrakhan, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Bill Russell, and Bill Cosby just to name a few.
A Nubian Notion, one of New England's largest one-stop Afro Centric Store has been incorporated for 50 years (1962).   In addition to a convenience store, A Nubian Notion specializes as an historical Gift Shop.  The gifts are unique and although geared towards afrocentric pride, it captivates all cultures for lovers of jazz, nice cards, calendars, sterling silver bangles, angels, figurines, and more.
