Tracking Our Progress

The City of Boston recently completed a detailed inventory of greenhouse gas emissions from municipal operations (for fiscal year 2005) and from the community of Boston as a whole (for calendar year 2005). Total emissions from municipal operations were about 300,000 tons of equivalent carbon dioxide (eCO2), about four percent of the 8 million tons of eCO2 emitted by the entire community.

Total municipal emissions are roughly similar to emissions counted in the 2000 inventory shown in the executive order on climate action , the City will issue a report annually on its progress toward meeting its goals.
