City Hall To Go

For most residents, Boston City Hall, our mobile app Citizens Connect and flagship website cityofboston.gov are and will remain the frontline of city service. But for some, travelling downtown to City Hall can be a long way to go. Boston is, after all, a city that stretches across nearly fifty square miles. Many people need a personal interaction to get direct services, ask a question or get information, so Boston is taking City Hall to them.

City Hall to Go Truck Coming Off Road for Winter

As winter approaches, City Hall to Go will be coming off the road December 1 through Spring 2015 to recalibrate and come back bigger and stronger for next year. This will give the City of Boston an opportunity to learn to serve constituents better. City Hall to Go, the first in the nation mobile city hall, has traveled 8,167 miles through the City of Boston, and has provided over 4,000 services to Boston residents, including accepting applications for birth certificates, resident parking stickers, and voter registrations. The program popularity has skyrocketed 250%, and has proven to be an effective, efficient, and enjoyable way for constituents to conduct city business.

City Hall to Go will be conducting a survey of residents to learn about what has been working, and what to improve on, both of services provided and how to publicize. We will still be on social media to answer questions and engage with residents, and the Mayor’s 24 hour hotline is available as always. Services provided at City Hall to Go will still be available on the website and at city hall. Surveys will be available online at boston.gov/cityhalltogo and printed copies will be made available at libraries and community centers.
