Committee Description:
Committee on Women and Healthy Communities, which shall concern itself with the adequate delivery of city services and programming for youth, families, seniors and New Bostonians, with particular focus on girls and women.  The committee shall concern itself with issues including, but not limited to, domestic and sexual violence, child abuse and neglect, substance abuse, mentoring, hunger and homelessness.  The committee shall review programs pertaining to efforts to stabilize communicates and reduce violence.  The committee shall share oversight of public safety issues related to women with the committee on public safety.  The committee shall have oversight with respect to committee-related programs operated by the Boston Public Health Commission, Boston Centers for Youth and Families, and Neighborhood and Community Health Centers.  The committee shall also have oversight with respect to the Office of Civil Rights, Women’s Commission, and the Elderly Commission, Commission on Affairs of the Elderly, Emergency Shelter Commission, and the Office of New Bostonians.
