Committee Description:
Committee on Global Opportunities and Innovation and Technology, which shall concern itself with the review of the City of Boston’s use of technology programs, and how various innovative mechanisms can assist in improving the quality of life for Boston residents while fostering the technological literacy of residents. The committee shall also concern itself with the development of Boston’s innovation economy and technology sectors, talent retention in related areas, and promoting partnerships between the City of Boston and various research, for-profit, and not-for profit institutions dedicated to related areas. The committee shall also have oversight over all matters related to international relationships, international commerce, international visitors, international business, global marketing and investments from overseas. The committee will work to strengthen relationships with foreign governments and overseas entities, and promote cultural exchanges, trade missions, global partnering and strategic alliances. The committee shall exercise oversight with respect to the Department of Innovation and Technology, and New Urban Mechanics and other related departments and initiatives.
