Mayor Walsh joins Police Commissioner Evans and members of the Boston Police Department to recognize fallen Officer Jose Maceira at the Memorial Wall of Honor in Boston Police Headquarters in Roxbury. Officer Maceira was injured in the line of duty in 1974, died from those injuries in 1977, making him the first Hispanic police officer in both Boston and the Commonwealth, to be killed in the line of duty. It was determined earlier this year that his death would be officially considered a "line of duty" death. |
