WriteBoston's T.i.P. Journalism Summer Session

Program Description:

Who: Boston Public School Students in WriteBoston-associated schools* entering 9th or 10th grade in the fall of 2008.

What: A four-week summer program that offers young people a fun way to improve writing, build journalism skills, and explore exciting places in Boston. Contribute articles to the Fall, 2008 edition of Boston T.i.P., Teens in Print, the only citywide newspaper written for, by, and about teens.

When: July 7-July 31, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Where: The program is based primarily at the Boston Globe and Northeastern University. Field trip sites are all located in Boston. (T passes are provided).

Why: It's a fun way to get published and learn about the world of journalism and media! Field trips to Fenway Park, City Hall for lunch with Mayor Menino, and local media outlets like the Boston Globe introduce you to some of Boston's best landmarks. You'll also learn the basic skills of journalism like interviewing, fact checking, and writing news stories, commentaries and features from professional journalists working in the field. You'll get expert mentoring and be a staff writer for T.i.P, Boston's only teen newspaper--where 30,000 teens across the city can read your words.
