Edward L. DeMore, Chief Executive Officer
Edward L. DeMore is the CEO and a founder of the Boston Digital Bridge Foundation (BDBF).
Ed led a team that raised more than $45 million from private companies and individuals which was a catalyst for raising an additional $175 million from the federal E-RATE program and the City of Boston. This enabled Boston to have the most robust technology infrastructure of any urban public school system in America.
Ed has long been active within the Boston Public Schools. He acted as Education Advisor to then Acting Mayor Menino in 1993 and was a member of the School Site Council of the Boston Latin School, the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Commission, and the Technology Committee for the Boston Public School. Ed continues to work closely with Mayor Menino on the City's technology initiatives.
Prior to founding the BDBF, Ed joined the Economic Development and Industrial Corporation of Boston in April 1994 as the Chief Operating Officer and in November 1995 he was also appointed to the position of Executive Assistant to the Chief Economic Development Officer for the City of Boston.
Preceding his employment with the City, Ed was employed with Xerox Corporation where he held various sales, marketing, and sales management positions during his ten-year career. In 1977, he left Xerox to start his own private real estate investment and consulting firm that made investments in private companies and real estate projects and advised clients on their personal and business investments.
Ed serves or has served on the following committees: Boston Latin School Capital Campaign Steering Committee, Boston Public Schools Technology Advisory Board, Southwest High Technology Collaborative Advisory Board, Black&White Boston Awards Committee, Ten Point Coalition - Annual Event Host Committee, Black Ministerial Alliance After School Program Advisory Board, TechBoston Advisory Committee, Out of School Time Financing Work Group (PUCC), The Ad Club's social mission committee and was Chairman of the Technology Goes Home Planning Committee and the Boston Latin School Association, Feeder School Sub-Committee.
Ed is also a Consultant with Fundacion Amistad, a New York City foundation working to improve relations between with the United States and Cuba.
He graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Ed and his wife Paula reside in Boston and have four children.

Steven Gag, Chief Operating Officer and Technology Advisor to the Mayor
As Technology Advisor to Thomas M. Menino, Mayor of Boston, Steve's primary responsibility is to coordinate technology efforts among several city departments including schools, libraries, and community centers. He is responsible for implementing the Mayor's $175 million school technology plan to create access, training, educational online content and support for the 65,000 students, 10,000 teachers and administrators, and 40,000 families that use the 160 networks and 15,000 computers.
He also serves as the Chief Operating Officer and Director of the Mayor's Boston Digital Bridge Foundation. In this role he oversees the Foundation's Technology Goes Home project that provides training and computer systems for low-income families through the Boston Public Schools.
Steve received a BA from Northeastern Illinois University and earned his MBA at Boston University.
He also received the John Russell Award for Public and Nonprofit Management Excellence from the Boston University Public & Nonprofit Management MBA Program in 2004.

Echo Tsai, CEO and Owner, HiQ Computers
Echo Tsai is co-founder and CEO of HiQ Systems, Inc., headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. An immigrant from Taiwan, Echo joined her brother over ten years ago to build and sell customized high-end personal computers and total network solutions to corporations.
Today, Echo has grown HiQ's revenues to well over $60M based on a marketing strategy that proved HiQ used the same high quality components as its larger competitors, but offered added value in customer service, quicker turnaround, and local accessibility. HiQ is recognized by its clients as a company that focuses on high quality and special customer service. HiQ's workforce numbers over 100 employees in seven national locations, with the headquarters based in the heart of Silicon Valley.
With her company on a solid footing, today Echo is turning her attention to more business involvement and outreach to local companies. Recent achievement includes the development of a free technology-training facility for teachers; “Kids Compute 2001,” a public education program started by Mayor Menino of Boston; and the successful launching of Technology Goes Home which provides free technology training and computers to low income Boston families through the Boston Public Schools. Echo has always considered community services paramount and this is evidenced by the numerous awards she has received over the past few years: 1996 Model of Overseas Chinese Youth Entrepreneur of the Year, presented to her personally by the president of Taiwan; Chinese Women's Association of America 1997 Outstanding Woman of the Year; a Certificate of Honor from Mayor Willie Brown of San Francisco; and a Certificate of Recognition from Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi of California.
Echo is also proud of her association with the Chinese Computer Association (CCA), a group of more than 250 Northern California Chinese-owned computer manufacturers, distributors and resellers. She has served as a CCA Board member since its conception in 1994, and became chairperson of the group in 1996-97. During her term, she was able to combine and leverage the tremendous purchasing power of the organization's members and negotiate favorable terms with various large high manufacturers such as Intel and Microsoft.

Charles Longfield, Founder and CEO, Target Software
Chuck Longfield, a Director of BDBF, is President and Founder of Target Software, Inc. and Target Analysis Group, Inc., leading providers of software and information processing services to large, not-for-profit organizations. Chuck holds a BA in Mathematics and a M.Ed. from Harvard University, and has over 20 years of experience helping not-for-profits improve their fundraising operations. Chuck is certified to teach secondary school mathematics and taught math to middle and high school students prior to founding the Target companies.
Chuck, who grew up in East Boston, is an alumnus of Boston Latin School class of 1974 and has remained active in the school community. He is currently a member of the BLS Alumni Association's Board of Directors. Chuck also serves as both the Chairperson of the BLS College Counseling Committee, a committee focused on assisting students with the college process, and the Chairperson of the Saturday Success School, a program that provides additional academic support to students in grades 7-9 which he and his wife Susie founded in 1990. He is also a member of the BLS Health Committee and Technology Committee.
Chuck is a 1997 graduate of the National Conference for Community and Justice's LeadBoston program. He is involved in numerous initiatives involving children, schools, and educational technology.

John F. Keane, Founder and Chairman, Keane, Inc.
John F. Keane, a Director of BDBF, is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Keane, Inc. The company, which he founded in 1965, is a $1 billion consulting and information technology solutions firm that helps companies plan, build, and manage application software to achieve business advantage.
John is a member of the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), the national computer software and services trade association, having previously served as Chairman of that organization. He serves as a Trustee of the Massachusetts Software Council, Inc. and is a member of the Mass High Tech Council. John served as a senior advisor on the President's Council for Year 2K Conversion in Washington, D.C. In addition, he serves on the Board of the Center for Quality of Management, and is on the Board of Overseers of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Museum of Fine Arts.
John is immediate past Chairman of the Board of Governors of the New England Aquarium. He is also a Director of PerkinElmer, Inc. (formerly known as EG&G), a global technology company that supplies products and technical services to industrial and government markets. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Firstwave Technologies, Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Firstwave is a global supplier of enterprise sales, marketing, and customer service automation software.
Prior to starting his own firm, John worked for IBM and was a marketing and management consultant for Arthur D. Little. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard School of Business Administration, and received HBS's Alumni Achievement Award for 1999.

Kenneth Umansky, Partner, Arnold Communications
Ken, a Director of BDBF, came to Arnold from the Richard Group where he led the transition effort on AT&T Wireless Services and was also the principal on PrimeCo Personal Communications, Cyrix and Sage.
He began his career at Benton & Bowles, squiring brands for packaged goods clients like Proctor & Gamble, General Foods, and Standard Brands. Both there and at Foote, Cone & Belding, he learned the about health and beauty aids, confections, paints, cosmetics and even the nuances of bubble gum industries.
Later, Ken helped to run Ketchum Advertising's Pittsburgh Office as the Chief Operating Officer, concentrating on Digital Equipment. He also helped the HJ Heinz Company position Pharmor Drug Stores as the “Power Buying” experts.
In 1989, Ken was recruited to help Whittle Communications launch the highly successful Channel One, the daily satellite-delivered news program beamed into schools throughout the U.S. In addition, he headed Whittle's Media Lab, their newest product area.
