A primary goal of the Crossroads is to develop engaging, pleasant streets for pedestrians. The eye-level appearance of buildings directly informs much of the experience and perception for passersby. The urban design analysis, therefore, carefully documented the current ground floor character of each street.

Above, the lavender marks numerous opportunities to bring more active uses to Congress Street in the Financial District. The prevalence of black on the Fort Point Channel side highlights the challenge of bringing ground floor transparency to formerly industrial buildings with elevated ground floors.
