Using the eleven 21st Century street principles, the Crossroads Initiative, during the summer/fall 2005, will develop a “palette” of approved solutions and materials that meet city performance criteria and appeal to the public. Important aspects of this Crossroads palette include:

• Establishing those attributes common to each street, creating the identifiable system of Crossroads, as well as those unique to each street;

• Developing an approach for involving artists early in the process and employing public art to achieve the 21st Century principles;

• Installing a “materials lab” for public viewing of Crossroads elements.
