James Dingle
Independent artist/filmmaker/free-ware game developer

From the age of nine through his early twenties, James spent most of his time programming freeware video games; originally in Basic on Tandy's Color Computer, a friend's Atari 800, school's PDP-11, my older brother's Apple II, an IBM AT, and whatever other machine I could get my hands on. My later games were programmed in Turbo Pascal and C on my Tandy 1000 EX - strictly hobbyist DOS based games, mostly with ASCII characters for graphics. These shareware games were distributed in the pre-internet days through local BBSes and through my friends.

James has spent most of the past six years creating video art that incorporates stop motion, illustration, and obsolete computer graphics. His video art work has shown in 40 film festivals, most notably South by Southwest, Atlanta, Arizona International, New Orleans, New York New Filmmakers, Olympia, and St. Louis film festivals, and the Boston Cinema Census.
