Volunteer Information


Join the two hundred volunteer tax preparers who worked on the Campaign during the 2008 Tax Season. All Volunteer Tax Preparers must be certified by the IRS prior to working in one of our 22 tax sites. Read below to learn about the different volunteer positions and training options.

Volunteer positions

Tax Preparation: Prepare tax returns for clients at one of 22 neighborhood tax sites. Please visit our Volunteer Registration and Signup Page to learn more, or read below for more information. Contact Brian Robinson at brian.robinson.jcs@cityofboston.gov with any additional questions.

Credit Advisor: Assist taxpayers in accessing and analyzing their credit reports.

CASH Advisor: Help connect low and moderate-income taxpayers to asset development resources, including income supports and Massachusetts Free Health Care.

Intake Screener: Manage the flow of the tax site by handing out forms, answering basic questions, and directing taxpayers to the next available tax preparer. For more information please contact Brian Robinson at brian.robinson.jcs@cityofboston.gov or call 617.918.5220.
