What is Financial Literacy?

Financial Literacy – It’s for Everyone!

You work hard for your money! How you use it, spend it, save it, and invest it impacts you -- and your family – everyday. That’s why financial literacy is a central part of the Boston EITC Campaign’s asset building agenda for hard-working families. There are many definitions for Financial Literacy, but a concise definition is this: the ability to manage your money and make financial decisions that make sense both now and in the long term.

To make informed decisions, you need to know how to access programs, classes, organizations and resources that can provide information, training, and access to the financial resources you need. That’s where we come in. We have assembled resources and information on this site to help you find organizations and agencies that offer financial literacy classes. We also have compiled on-line links to other city, state or government agencies’ financial programs and online educational tools.
