Hit The Road
Boston is blessed with countless organizations and businesses dedicated to helping you get started on the road to cycling. And if you don’t have a bike—that’s no excuse. You can either rent a bike or many of the classes provide bikes for free.

Youth Classes

Safe Routes to School   – Safe Routes promotes walking and biking to school through education and fun incentives. The program also addresses the safety concerns of parents by encouraging greater enforcement of traffic laws, educating the public, and exploring ways to create safer streets. It is free, so sign your school up now.

Bikes Not Bombs This innovative program for high school and middle school-aged students deals with just about every aspect of bikes and bike riding. It includes everything from a girl's only program;  a co-ed program where you can earn your own bike;  a program where you learn how to become a bike shop mechanic and a program that teaches you to actually sell bikes. All the programs are low cost and geared towards anyone who really loves bikes.

Adult Classes

MassBike  -MassBike offers a series of Bicycling Skills classes to help bicyclists learn to ride more safely and effectively. Please read below for more information (including full course descriptions) and to register. Classes are added to the schedule frequently, so check back often.

Bicycle Riding School  -  If you never learned to ride a bike as a kid,  help is on the way. The Bicycle Riding School specializes in teaching adults to ride bicycles. Where there’s a will, there’s a way to learn to ride a bike—regardless of how old you are.

Bike Rental & Tours

Urban AdvenTours  – Don’t have a bike—rent one here.  And, while you are at it, get a unique spin on Beacon Hill, Fenway Park, the Esplanade, MIT, Harvard, the North End, Back Bay, and the Charles River on a guided tour. There’s nothing quite like getting a bike’s-eye-view of all the amazing culture and architecture Boston has to offer.
