It's Time to License Your Dog!

In an effort to promote the health, safety, and well-being of your pet, the City of Boston requires all dog owners to license their pet on a yearly basis.

Why License your dog?:
  • It's the law.

  • If your pet ever gets lost and ends up in a shelter, a current license on your dog is his/her ticket to getting home.

  • Dog licensing helps the City maintain current data on the identification and the number of dogs in Boston and helps to control the potential spread of rabies.

License fees:
  • $15 for spayed/neutered dogs

  • $30 for intact dogs

Dog Licenses are valid from April 1st - March 31st of each year
