Posted Street Cleaning Program
Daily, from April through November, contracted and City-owned mechanical sweepers maintain (weather permitting) over four hundred curb miles of posted streets Citywide. Over one hundred curb miles swept nightly, year round in Downtown Boston, and an additional 40 arterial streets citywide swept once a week.

Non-posted streets are mechanically swept on a regularly scheduled basis.
Winter Street Sweeping Program
The Public Works Department will be expanding the posted street sweeping program in the North End to include the months of December and March and in the South End to include the month of March. No posted street sweeping will be done in January and February. This effort will provide cleaner streets in the neighborhood and a reduction in rodent food sources.
