The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is responsible for coordinating the City of Boston's emergency management program. The emergency management program is based on a citywide system that provides management and coordination of prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery activities for all hazards that may impact the City of Boston.
OEM manages the Boston Emergency Operations Center (EOC), facilitates emergency planning efforts and provides assistance in the aftermath of a disaster. This department is comprised of professional staff, and liaisons from city public safety agencies, who work collaboratively to ensure emergency preparedness efforts are appropriately coordinated within the City and all external partners.
