2009 Digital Government Achievement Award
A 2009 Digital Government Achievement Award has been awarded to the City of Boston’s Technology Department for SnowCOP; the innovative GIS -based solution that helps optimize deployment of snow plows and salt trucks for all of Boston’s neighborhoods.
The Digital Government Achievement Awards are bestowed each year by eRepublic’s Center for Digital Government to showcase progressive and innovative Web sites and digital applications by government entities worldwide. The awards are judged by a panel of experts on a wide range of categories, including site accessibility, innovation, cost-savings, ease of use, and exceptional service to public.

City Receives Technology Awards
The City of Boston received 2 Technology Solutions awards last week from the Public Technologies Institute. The Boston Police Department was the overall Winner in the Public Safety category for Text-a-Tip. Citizens can anonymously text-a-tip to the Boston Police from their cell phone. The program was the first in the country and has been very successful. The MIS Department won a Significant Achievement for the Boston Fiber Optic Network in the Telecom/IT category.
