Stacey D. Stewart

Senior Vice President – Community and Charitable Giving

Stacey D. Stewart is Fannie Mae’s senior vice president – Community and Charitable Giving. Reporting to the senior vice president and chief of staff to the chief executive officer and the chairman of the board, Stewart leads the integration of Fannie Mae’s overall corporate giving strategy and programs. She manages the department, which includes a vice president of Business Operations, vice president of Giving Strategy, two senior level directors, and a staff of 25 employees. Stewart designs, implements, and seeks to leverage Fannie Mae’s philanthropic initiatives in support of the corporation’s business goals, objectives, and mission.

Prior to joining Fannie Mae in February 2007, Stewart was president and chief executive officer, Fannie Mae Foundation, where she directed the largest foundation in the U. S. dedicated to affordable housing and community development and the largest foundation in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area with a 2006 budget of $61 million. She managed all aspects of the Foundation’s operation including all financial investments (grants and loans), strategic management, financial operations, technology, human resources, research, and legal. Stewart was responsible for the development of the nation’s first internet portal for housing and community development, the KnowledgePlex®; managed the nation’s largest consumer outreach campaign for homeownership; led the Foundation’s first long-term strategic plan; managed two organizational realignments to attract and retain top-notch professionals; and was the nationally recognized spokesperson on housing and mortgage finance issues with significant media experience.

From 1995 to 1999, Stewart was vice president, Housing and Community Development for Fannie Mae’s Atlanta, GA, office, and public affairs director from 1992 to 1995.

Stewart was a vice president for Pryor, McClendon, Counts & Co., Inc., Atlanta, GA, from 1990 to 1992. Before that, she was a senior associate with Merrill Lynch, New York, NY, from 1987 to 1990.

She is currently the chairperson of the Board of the DC Education Compact and on the Boards of the Federal City Council, DC Chamber of Commerce, Greater Washington Board of Trade, Foundation Center, and Policy Advisory Board of the Joint Center for housing Studies at Harvard University.

Stewart has a master of business administration from the University of Michigan and a bachelor of arts in economics from Georgetown University.
