Subway

Green Line:
Take the Green Line to the Government Center stop. Boston City Hall is directly across City Hall Plaza from the subway entrance. The BRA is on the ninth floor.

Blue Line:
Take the Blue Line to the Government Center stop. Boston City Hall is directly across City Hall Plaza from the subway entrance. The BRA is on the ninth floor.

Red Line:
Take the Red Line to the Downtown Crossing stop. You can either change to the Orange Line Inbound and follow the directions below or exit the station and walk north on Washington Street. At the end of Washington Street, cross State Street at the crosswalk, and walk along the pedestrian mall. City Hall is straight ahead.

Orange Line:
From Forest Hills, take the Orange Line to the State Street stop. Walk along the platform to the City Hall Exit. After exiting at the pedestrian mall, City Hall is straight ahead. After 7 p.m., use the main stairway, exit the station and take a right on to Washington Street. At the end of Washington Street, cross State Street at the crosswalk, and walk along the pedestrian mall. City Hall is straight ahead.

From Oak Grove, take the Orange Line to Haymarket. Turn left out of the station and go one block to the crosswalk, cross the street, and continue left. The rear entrance to City Hall is just a few feet down the sidewalk at a hoseshoe shaped driveway.

Bus

A number of MBTA bus routes provide service to Downtown Boston. For more information on the route that would best suit your trip, refer to bus services.

Commuter Rail

Commuter Rail Services

From the North, take the Commuter Rail to North Station. Switch to the Orange Line, and head Inbound. Continue by following the directions listed under Subway and by Orange Line above.

From the South, take the Commuter Rail to South Station. Switch to the Red Line, and head Inbound to the Park Street station. Switch to the Green Line. and take a Lechmere train to the Government Center stop. City Hall is directly across City Hall Plaza from the subway entrance.

Alternatively, exit the Commuter Rail at Back Bay Station, switch to the Orange Line heading Inbound toward Oak Grove and exit at State Street. An exit directly to City Hall can be found near the end of the platform. It is open until 7 p.m. After 7 p.m., use the main stairway, exit the station and take a right on to Washington Street. At the end of Washington Street, cross State Street at the crosswalk, and walk along the pedestrian mall. City Hall is straight ahead.

Car

From the North
Take Interstate 93 Southbound to Exit 23 to Government Center/North End. Bear left onto North Street and then turn left onto Congress Street. You are then at the rear of City Hall. For garage parking, turn right onto Congress Street instead. Two parking garages are located at the intersection of Congress Street and Sudbury Street.

From the South and from I-90 (Mass Turnpike)
Take Interstate 93 North to the Exit 23, Government Center. Bear left onto North Street and then turn left onto Congress Street. You are then at the rear of City Hall. For garage parking, turn right onto Congress Street instead. Two parking garages are located at the intersection of Congress Street and Sudbury Street.

From the West
Follow Storrow Drive heading east to its end at Leverett Circle. Take the tunnel entrance to 93 Southbound to Exit 23 to Government Center/North End. Bear left onto North Street and then turn left onto Congress Street. You are then at the rear of City Hall. For garage parking, turn right onto Congress Street instead. Two parking garages are located at the intersection of Congress Street and Sudbury Street.

Directions to Other BRA Facilities

Directions to 43 Hawkins Street (Jobs and Community Services and Administration and Finance)

  • By MBTA:Take the Orange or Green line to Haymarket Station. Go right (north) on Congress Street. Turn left on Sudbury St. Walk past the parking garage and the brick police station. After the police station, you will see a set of stairs going down. Take those stairs; about 100 feet ahead you will see a sign saying EDIC/Boston. Enter there.
  • By car: You can sometimes get a meter on New Chardon St. or you can pay to park in the Government Center garage, entering it on New Chardon St. or Sudbury St. If you exit on foot on Sudbury St., see the last section of the MBTA directions above. If you exit on New Chardon, take a left from the garage. The second street you see is Hawkins St. Go left and look for the EDIC/Boston sign.

    Directions to the Roxbury Resource Center, (2201 Washington Street, Roxbury) and Youth Opportunity Center (7 Palmer St)

  • By MBTA: Take the Orange Line to the Mass. Av. stop. Take the #1 bus to the Washington Steet & Ruggles Steet stop. You can also take any bus that goes to Dudley Station and then take a short walk on Washington Street to 2201 Washington St. or to the intersection of Palmer St.
  • By car: Take Washington Street from either direction or take Ruggles Street or Dudley Street or Melnea Cass Blvd. to where it intersects with Washington Street. There is a municipal parking lot on Ruggles Street in back of the building and one on Washington St. across from 7 Palmer St.

    Directions to the South Boston Resource Center

  • By MBTA: Take the Red Line to Broadway station and then take the number 9 bus and get off at Perkins Square. We are located diagonally across the street at 489 East Broadway.
  • By car: Find your way to Broadway station and follow West Broadway to Perkins Square (7 blocks). For parking, take a left at Dunkin Donuts and another left into the parking lot.

    Directions to the Allston-Brighton Resource Center
    The Allston-Brighton Resource Center is located at 367 Western Avenue in Brighton, across the street from the Brighton Mills Shopping Plaza. The Center is in a two-story brick building. Our doorway faces Western Avenue. The Center is handicapped accessible and has plenty of free, off-street parking. It is served by three MBTA bus routes: #70, #70 and #86. It is indirectly served by MBTA bus route #66. For a current schedule and route map, visit www.mbta.com

  • By MBTA:The Allston-Brighton Resource Center is directly served by three MBTA bus routes : #70 and #70A (serving Central Square, Cambridge; Waltham; Watertown and Arsenal Malls; Watertown Square; and connections to the Red Line); and #86 (serving Union Square, Allston; Harvard Square, Cambridge; Brighton Center; St. Elizabeth's Medical Center; and connections to the Red Line, Green Line and Orange Line). Your bus stop is "Brighton Mills" directly in front of the Center. You may also take MBTA bus route #66 (Harvard Square, Cambridge to Dudley Station via Harvard Street) to the intersection of Western Avenue and North Harvard Street. Transfer to #70, #70A or #86 bus route to the "Brighton Mills" stop directly in front of the Center.
  • By car: From Memorial Drive (westbound): Take the left onto North Harvard Street (Harvard University's JFK School of Government/JFK Street to Harvard Square is on your right). Go over the Charles River. Pass Harvard Stadium on your right. The next major intersection after the Stadium is Western Avenue. Take a right onto Western Avenue for approximately four blocks. The Allston-Brighton Resource Center will be on your right immediately after the car wash, across from the Brighton Mills Shopping Plaza.

    From Soldiers' Field Road (westbound): Take the Harvard Square/Allston exit. At the top of the ramp, go left onto North Harvard Street. Harvard Stadium will be on your right. The next major intersection after the Stadium is Western Avenue. Take a right onto Western Avenue for approximately four blocks. The Allston-Brighton Resource Center will be on your right immediately after the car wash, across from the Brighton Mills Shopping Plaza.

    From the Mass Pike/I-90 (westbound): Take the Mass Pike westbound to the Allston-Brighton tolls. After the tolls, bear left towards "Allston" and continue on to Cambridge Street. Stay on Cambridge Street for approximately four blocks. You will see a major set of lights and a Hess gas station on your right. Take a right at the lights onto North Harvard Street. Pass the Dunkin' Donuts. At the next lights, take a left onto Western Avenue. The Allston-Brighton Resource Center is will be on your right immediately after the car wash, across from the Brighton Mills Shopping Plaza.

    Directions to Charlestown Navy Yard
  • By MBTA:Take the MBTA water shuttle from Long Wharf to the Navy Yard. For a current schedule, visit www.mbta.com.
  • By car: Go north across the Gillmore (Charlestown) Bridge from North Washington Street. Take a right at the light onto Chelsea Street. Turn right at 5th Street to enter the Yard.

    Directions to the Marine Industrial Park/Boston Local Development Corporation/Boston Industrial Development Financing Authority

  • By MBTA: Take Either the No. 6 or No. 3 bus that comes into the MIP or the No. 7 bus stops just outside the Drydock Ave. gate. From South Station, pick up the Silver Line or walk (15 minutes on good day.)
  • By car: From South Station, proceed east on Summer Street for 1 mile. Take a left on Drydock Ave. The Marine Industrial Park main office is at 22 Drydock Ave, 2nd floor.
