BCYF Programs & Events

BCYF provides a variety of programs and opportunities to enhance the quality of life and meet neighborhood interest and need for all Boston residents. BCYF operates a network of 29 community centers, 19 pools and one beach to provide a wide range of affordable activities including school-aged and adult education, family literacy, high school equivalency exam preparation and testing, youth employment, violence prevention and intervention, senior activities, recreation and enrichment.

    BCYF Block Parties

    BCYF Summer Block Parties are free community block parties in July and August that bring neighborhood fun to your block with swimming, music, family-friendly games, summer resources and a cookout.

    Outdoor Pools & New Family Friendly Beach

    On Saturday, June 18, BCYF Clougherty Pool in Charlestown and BCYF Mirabella Pool in the North End, and our Family Friendly Beach at BCYF Curley Community Center in South Boston are opening for the season! Pools open 11am-dusk (~7pm), Beach open M-F 9am-5pm, Weekends 8am-4pm.

    Across Boston, BCYF offers a rich menu of summer opportunities for youth and families from summer camps and swimming, to sports programs, community cookouts, free drop-in enrichment activities, summer jobs, and more.

    BCYF Teen Programs & Events

    16 BCYF community centers have teen-friendly spaces and programming specifically designed by and for teens. These are spaces to connect with others, participate in a range of programs, and enjoy unstructured time having fun, hanging out, doing homework, getting assistance with job searches, and more.


    Last year over 8,000 Boston teens participated in BCYF teen programming.

  • Exam and Pencil (75)

    HiSET Exam Testing Information (formerly the GED)

    The new HiSET Exam (formerly the GED) for Massachusetts High School Equivalency is now in place.  This new exam is computer based (taken on a computer) and BCYF is one of the first places in Massachusetts to offer this exam.

    PLEASE NOTE: All registration is online.  There will no longer be registration at the BCYF Administrative Offices.

    Want to join your local BCYF community center?

    Fill out this application online and bring a print out with you to the center.  Make sure you contact the center to find out what documents you need to bring with you to complete the application process, determine membership rates and the forms of accepted payment.
