Registry Division
The mission of the Registry Division is to respond to public requests for certified births, marriages, and deaths promptly and accurately and maintain compliance with the state Registrar's Office.
How to obtain a copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate:
Certified copies of birth, death and marriage records are available from the Registry Division in Boston City Hall and the State Registry of Vital Records and Statistics.
The Registry Division should have birth records of anyone born within Boston, either at a hospital or at home birth. This Office will have death records of any death that occurred in Boston, and will also have marriage records of any couple who filed their intentions in Boston regardless of where the marriage took place. The fee for vital records available at Boston City Hall is $12.00 per certified copy plus a surcharge of $3.00 if obtained through the mail.
